During the month of September, the NSW Department of State and Regional Development will be hosting Small Business September '08. Over 300 seminars, workshops, expos and award ceremonies will be held for businesses to help encourage innovation, create new possibilities, and business opportunities.

Applications Closing Fast - Young BizStar Competition 2008
Entries are closing at 5.00pm 22 August 2008 for the Young BizStar Competition 2008.
The competition is open to budding young entrepreneurs who are permanent residents of NSW between the ages of 18 and 35.
Applications are invited in the following categories:
Light Bulb - a new business idea
Start-Up - businesses operating for one year or less
Regional - regionally based entrants automatically enter this category
Submissions will be assessed on various components including market potential, innovativeness of the product, and product differentiation.
Finalists will pitch their idea to a panel of industry experts in front of a live audience at the final event held in Sydney on 18 September 2008.
The winner of each category will receive a business support package worth over $6,000 which includes consulting support from the Department of State and Regional Development, Capital raising and funding assistance from an ASSOB consultant and an Australia Post Pack.
The Young BizStar Competition is a headline event of Small Business September and not to be missed!
